This was my type of place!! Rustic and charming, lots of different drinks available, I loved the mead selection, we tried a couple of different ones and they were really tasty! Great rock music playing in the background, children are allowed in until 8pm. We didn’t try any food but saw other people eating and it looked good! Would definitely come back, worth a visit if you’re in York.

We were in York for the August heatwave. Sightseeing in the sun on the busy cocktails was brutal! I’d spotted Valhalla online before our trip and wanted to visit and glad we stumbled across it. It was cool inside and a nice break from the sunshine. Quite small inside but in a snug way with comfortable seating. Also has some tables outside. Had some quality beers. Staff very friendly.

Another great stop on our epic York pub crawl. Valhalla lived up to its name by being super cool and old school. 3 levels and an outdoor area. Plenty of drinks to choose from and a bunch of different mead’s to toast to Odin’s and your health. Great atmosphere. Definitely recommend if you are in York.

If you want a authentic Scandinavian experience then I suggest you seek out the tavern Valhalla! It’s just liked being back in the age of the Vikings, the food here was great and the drinks were good. It has a very lively atmosphere and authentic feeling I do recommend you pay a visit!

My husband and I came for drinks yesterday after reading about Valhalla online; we were not disappointed! The selection of drinks on offer is great, the staff were really friendly and we were served very quickly. The Viking theme is very much apparent inside. We’ll definitely be returning!

The food was absolutely unreal, my partner’s favourite was the meatballs in tomato sauce, by far to nicest I’ve ever had and the halloumi fries were the chunkiest I’ve ever seen. Amazing and unique bar with a great selection of drinks, including mead you won’t see anywhere else. The atmosphere is brilliant, with friendly and helpful staff available to give you advice on drinks you might not be able to try anywhere else. I just wish this was closer to home!
