The atmosphere is relaxed and tranquil, just right for a quiet night out.

The main was truely appalling braised lamb on a garlic mash?

We had a 3 course meal here as a family of four during our overnight stay. The restaurant is nice and the service was excellent. We opted for classics such as fish & chips, gammon and chocolate fudge cake desserts. All was faultless.

After reading negative reviews on here, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was really impressed by Townfields. It’s not cheap but it’s a proper restaurant and all such places cost these days. The point is, it’s worth it.I considered removing a star for the staff being nothing like as knowledgeable as they should be for the standard of the establishment. But I decided that would be churlish. The service was good, it was friendly and it was quick. The atmosphere is relaxed and tranquil, just right for a quiet night out.The food, though, is what stands out. The two of us ordered different things over three courses and all six dishes were top quality. A bit different, beautifully presented and memorably delicious.Definitely recommended.

The food was extremely disappointing, to start chicken tandoori skewers which tasted as if they had no spice at all. The main was truely appalling braised lamb on a garlic mash? The lamb was generic meat which had not a hint of flavor to it and the garlic mash was plain and stodgy. The vegetables were indistinguishable from each other, other than their colour all tasting as if they had been boiled for 5 hours. The dessert which was a slight redeeming feature was a fairly good chocolate cheesecake but very cold which seemed like it had just been defrosted. To finish off the food was crap, the staff were perfectly frienldy but with 4 different servers throughout I didn’t feel my comments about the food had been dealt with in an appropriate manner. This really lets down the establishment which is on the whole well decorated. Room 306 awaits your response.
